About

A small number of fixtures, chosen carefully.

Fixturess is an Australian lighting studio working with a deliberately narrow range of pendant and ceiling fittings.

The premise is simple. Most lighting is bought late, under time pressure, from a catalogue of thousands. The result is a room that is lit but not considered. We would rather offer a handful of fittings we can stand behind than a thousand we cannot.

The range is drawn for the rooms most Australians actually live in — apartments, townhouses and renovations built to standard ceiling heights, where a fitting has to sit close and still hold its shape. Low profile is a constraint we design to, not a compromise we accept.

Fixtures are named for places along the Victorian coast and the ranges behind it — Lorne, Erskine, Kennett, Sheoak, Marengo, Wye, Apollo.

What we look for

Proportion first, then light.

A fixture has to work twice. Unlit, it is an object on a ceiling — it needs proportion, a clean line, and a finish that sits with the room. Lit, it has to throw light that is warm, even and free of glare.

Most fittings manage one of the two. We are only interested in the ones that manage both.

Principles

Four things we hold to.

01
Considered, not decorated

The form is the fitting. No applied ornament, nothing added to justify a price.

02
Made for Australian rooms

Low-profile fixtures suited to standard ceiling heights, hallways and apartment living.

03
Honest about what we are

A young studio with a small range and direct pricing. We will not invent a history we do not have.

04
Built to be specified

Written dimensions, finishes and colour temperatures, so a designer can put our fittings on a schedule.
